Why does moist air rise? I know that hot air rises, as in a hot air balloon, or as witnessed by a stuffy upstairs in your house during sweltering summers. Then I wonder, why would the moist air become saturated as it rises? What is the physical principle that alllows both hot and moist air to rise? Why would rising moist air reach a saturation point where it could not add any more water vapor? Why would the rising moist air not get warmer, lighter, or capable of holding more water?
