a lift of mass 400g is accelerates upwards at 2m/s2. Calculate the force in the rope pulling it

This is just Newton's 2nd Law. F= ma. Don't forget for the force to be in Newtons the mass must be in kg and the acceleration in m/s^2.

newtons second law isn't f=ma instead it's Fnet=ma or ΣF=ma. it is correct that mass is in kg, force is in Newtons and also acceleration is ms^-2.[/u]
