 Posted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:51 pm    Post subject: VECTORS An airplane is traveling 735 km/h in a direction 41.5 degrees west of north. Find the components of the velocity vector in the northerly and westerly directions can you guys please help me solve this/tell me how to do it? and actually explain? i'm using the textbooks way of explaining but its not giving me the right answer

 Posted: Fri Sep 17, 2010 8:09 pm    Post subject: You need to break the velocity vector into its components. The northerly component is the y-component and the westerly component is the x-component. The components are v cos(theta) and v sin (theta) where v is a the velocity and theta is the angle from North. If I do any more, I will have done the question for you.
